Gratitude for a Year of Compassion and Opportunity

12.27.2017 Erik Wexler, Chief Executive Officer

The end of 2017 is upon us — a traditional time to reflect on the year that was and all that we are grateful for.

To everyone who was part of our year, thank you for all you do to make your corner of the world a better place.

We are grateful for our caregivers, who carry on our tradition of providing compassionate, personalized care for all in our community, and bring love and kindness to every encounter they have with others throughout the day.

It is because of our caregivers’ devotion to their patients, all of our hospitals were recognized by U.S. News & World Report as four of the “Best Hospitals” in California.

2017 also showed us the resilience of the human spirit. We joined together to help our extended family in Northern California after catastrophic wildfires destroyed the homes of more than 150 caregivers. In the midst of the heartbreak and shock, we found strength and courage in a caregiver at Mission Hospital, who suffered a gunshot wound during the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in Las Vegas.

Moments like these will shape all of us for the year to come.

We celebrated the opening of two new Wellness Corners, including our first that is devoted exclusively to muscular, joint and spinal health. Our caregivers were there for others not just in our local communities but throughout the state as we worked to lower the maternal mortality rate, championed the fight against sepsis and continued to remove the stigma associated with mental health by expanding our mental health initiative.

We are also grateful for a year brimming with opportunities to extend our mission. We’ve expanded our region and welcomed a new chief executive, and made plans to break ground on a new, comprehensive cancer institute. Our commitment to Orange County now reaches throughout Southern California and its diverse family of communities, especially the vulnerable and underserved.

Thank you all for an amazing 2017. We wish you all a happy and healthy new year.

We hope 2018 will be a happy and prosperous year for you, your business, and your employees, and we look forward to helping your workforce achieve health and wellness while growing your organization’s financial well-being.

May the new year bring new challenges, new accomplishments, and new rewards
